NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel) refers to Dryseal American National Standard Tapered Pipe Threads. They do not require a sealant due to being formed by metal to metal contact.
High Speed Steel (HSS) provides good wear-resistance and can be used in general purpose applications for both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Bright provides a smooth, polished finish on the tool. It increases chip flow in softer materials such as aluminum, wood and plastic.
Interrupted thread pipe taps are designed with a tooth removed on each cutting edge to reduce friction and increase chip flow. Extension pipe taps are used for internal deep-hole drilling of pipes and pipe fittings.
