Ground fault circuit breakers are designed to detect ground faults and interrupt the circuit to protect the user from fatal shock. They monitor the difference between the current on the line and neutral side. The device will interrupt the circuit if an overload or short circuit occurs.
Thermal-magnetic tripping mechanisms are designed with both a bi-metal switch and an electromagnet. They perform as a thermal breaker for low level overloads and perform as a magnetic breaker for instantaneous tripping mechanism at high levels.
